One creative life, expressed through music and visual art.
Cynthia Smith, also known as Cassie Fox, is a singer, songwriter, poet, and visual artist. She began writing poetry and songs at a young age, but recorded her first album after turning 50, inspired by the loss of a friend and a desire to create something lasting.
Her songs grow from the people, places, stories, and conversations around her—sometimes mundane, sometimes magnificent, and sometimes deeply moving. Cynthia transforms what she hears, sees, and feels into lyrics, melodies, and stories.
As a visual artist, Cynthia works with fabric, paint, hand-painted paper, string, ribbon, jewelry, and recycled materials to create intricate collages, decorated frames, mirrors, hats, and dresses. Many of her album covers and the visual textures throughout this website come directly from her original artwork.
Cynthia records regularly at Bristol Recording Studios in Boston and continues to create new music, paintings, and collages.
